Sunny Palm Springs, CA
Here are just a few of the pictures I took while at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs, CA. Katie and I were in desperate need of a vacation so we decided to take a little drive out to the desert for the weekend. For those of you who have never been to the Ace in Palm Springs, it is really great. The staff was super friendly and the rooms were amazing.
The weekend we went was around 117 degrees during the day, and the water in the pool didn't feel much cooler, but what do you expect, its the desert. We had a great view of the San Jacinto mountains from our patio (the patio is an upgrade but well worth your money), and we had easy access to both pools from our room.
The decor at the Ace is really something. Its a combo of hipster and vintage, really "cool" stuff if you're into that. The mini fridge was stocked with PBR and the poolside music consisted of Bloc Party as well as Young Joc. You expect everyone there to be painfully hip, but actually it was really down to earth and to my surprise there were a lot of older guests there.
The hotel offers a lot to do while you're staying there. They have a great diner where Katie and I got some really good hummus and grilled cheese, as well as a cool little bar. The night we stayed they were showing free independent short films in a little hall they call "The Commune." The Ace also provides a gym, spa, and dog park.
Katie and I both had a great time, it's a must see if you live in Southern California. Also, don't forget to stop at Hadley's and get a date shake, and make sure you visit the dinosaurs every great once and awhile.
