Captain Americana

Captain America, alias Steve Rogers, was created in 1941 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Captain America was often seen fighting the Axis Powers of WWII thus making him one of the most popular superheroes during the war. After the war ended Captain America lost a lot of his popularity and left the scene for awhile until he was later re-introduced as a member of The Avengers.

Captain America has always been one of my favorite superheroes. Maybe I'm biased because we share the last name and as a little kid you can only dream of being the distant relative of a superhero. Either way there is no denying Steve Rogers is a true American badass. Of course the creation of such a character was a way to bank off of national patriotism at the time, but how awesome would it have been to be a little kid during WWII reading a comic about a superhero beating up Nazis all day.

The Captain America movie has been set to release in 2011 and the role of Steve Rogers will be played by Chris Evans. Thought this post would be fitting seeing as how everybody has been all about Americana these days. Steve Rogers is about as American as you can get, but he lacks the boat shoes and chambray.
