Influence: Robert Bechtle
Recently I have been really digging Robert Bechtle's oil paintings. Love the colors and love the content.
Robert Bechtle was born in San Francisco in 1932 and was considered one of the first photorealists. His scenes take inspiration from everyday life and can be considered plain and ordinary. However, when looking at these ordinary scenes there is something amazing about how awesome life can look when frozen in time on a canvas with some beautiful undetected brush strokes.
He focuses on the everyday Americana that lately we have all grown to love and manages to stay extremely photorealistic while leaving out just enough detail to let the images look like paintings and not like direct copies.
